My final Artwork :)

Newspaper Me :0

Hey everyone,

In art this term and next term, we will be working on making mini me's! We will make these by having a wire sceleton, which we made last week, then putting newspaper and masking tape to build up our 'muscles'. After this, we have to paper mache this, and so far, I have done the bottom half of my body in paper Mache. My selected pose is doing the splits. I chose to do this pose as it signifies that I used to do dancing :).

Cheers Guys, and keep following,

Final Reflecion of Artwork

In art this semester, we have been working on a negative painting. The process in which the artwork was completed was:
1. We painted 3 large cardboard pieces in the colours of reed, black and blue.
2. We then had our picture taken doing a unique and individual pose.
3. In the third lesson, we were given our printed off pictures and had to enlarge them onto our selected choice colour of the cardboard we painted (I chose my black piece) using chalk.
4. We had to draw our enlarged image upside down, and only using the negative space in our picture, therefore only drawing the background of our pictures.
5. After our chalk drawing was completed (this took a few lessons), we started to draw in the features inside our selves, such as facial features, and zips on uniforms, ECT.
6. We then painted the square (negative space) which our chalk image was drawn in with white gesso.
7. After this was done, we painted the positive space. This included painting our uniforms, skin and face. This took a few lessons to get right!
8. When the positive space was completed, the gesso was painted with a warm colour. The colour I chose to paint my background was a warm orange colour. I did this because I thought it looked effective against my positive space.
9. Once the background was finished, it was time to start our dot work. The colours I chose were white and gold. I chose these because they gave a good contrast between the negative and positive spaces.
10. When the dot work was completed, our artwork was cut out.

WHAT WAS THE MOSTG DFFICLUT THING?
I think that the most difficult thing throughout the process of creating my artwork was drawing my face, getting my skin tone the right shade and also drawing the negative space correctly. I found drawing my face the right way challenging because it had to be drawn small and look like me and this was challenging. To overcome this problem, I asked for Mrs Vincent’s help. In the end, I think it actually looks like me! I also thought matching up my skin tone was challenging, because I couldn’t get it the same colour as it was in the picture. I resolved this problem by adding different colours until I got the right tone! The last problem I faced was to draw the negative space correctly. I overcame this problem by trying as hard as I could to get the same shapes as my photograph.
WHAT WAS THE BEST THING?
I think that the best thing about my painting is the dot work on it. I think that the dot work is the best thing about my painting because it has a good contrast against the background. It also stands out and the colour match. Another good thing about my dot work on my artwork is that I have created patterns on it-like the two circles that are on my artwork. This gives it line, and overall makes it look more effective.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENT IF YOU WERE TO RE-DO THE TASK?
I think that if I were to redo the art task I wouldn’t change that much, however I would change a couple of small things. These small things include trying to make my artwork look most like the picture, and also things like being neater and rushing as much on my work. I think that if I didn’t rush it as much, the dot works could have been neater and the overall look of it would have been cleaner.

Art Refelctions! :D

Overall:

Hey Bloggers, this semester in art, we are focusing on NEGATIVE shapes. Negative shapes are the areas around the positive shapes. They can be described as the background. We will be painting a picture of ourselves, and we will also be being visited by a very special guest-called Auntie Sally!

Feb 6th

In Today art class, we had a very special visitor. Her name is Auntie Sally. She is an Aboriginal artist from the stolen geneartion. In todays art class, we watched her do a painting. This painting was of a landscape in Australia which had large boulders. Firstly, she painted the backround. She then worked over it with small dropper bottles to create dot work. Overall, her painting looked very effective and interesting. I enjoyed watching Auntie Sally paint, and I am hoping too see more of her atrwork next lesson!

Feb 12th

Today in Art, we painted our backrounds for our negative shape images. We wll be having our phot taken, then we will draw all the negative space in, UPSIDE DOWN! I am looking forward to this because I think it will be a challenge! The colours we painted our backround a fiery red, a cool blue, and a black. I am looking forward for next lesson to start painting on them!

Feb 18th:

Today in Art, we ahd our photo taken for our negative space images. I had lots of fun thinking up the poses, however, i have decied to do one where m arm and foot is raised, and it is a side on image. I did this because I think that it will look effective! I am really looking forward to start painting on the backrounds of A3 cardboard! I am thinking I will choose the colour black for my backround!

Feb 25th:

Today in Art, our pictures were printed off, and we had to find all the negative space in our photo, which we will be painting upside down.

March 2nd:

Today in Art, we continued on with our negative space paintings. I really enjoyed doing this, and I am almost finished my chalk outline, ready to paint.

March 12th:

Today in Art, i started painting my negative image. Firstly, I painted the backround of my image. We painted the backround, then started to paint my tunic.

March 13th:

Today, I continued on painting my negative image, but I painted the skin colour, and the rest of the features on me. We also went through all the elements and principles of art today.

18th March

Absent

19th March:

Today in Art, I started to paint the backround of my negative image. I painted it a fiery orange red colour. I made this colour by mixing white, and a small amount of orange, red and yellow. It was important that I didnt mix white in with these colours first because otherwise it would take a lot of white to make the colour ligher.

25th March:

Today in art, Mrs Vincent was away, so we worked on a revision sheet. The revison sheet had 4 paintings, which we had to write what emotions were on the peoples face in the picture. This was revision towards our visual art test comming up next term.

26th March:

Today in art, we went to the computer rooms to work on our blogs. Mrs Vincent also taught us all about visual language, and body movement. We had to describe what we thought Mrs Vincent was like using visual language. When Mr Crawley walked in, we did the same thing too him!
